Stephen Hawking: series where the famous physicist appeared

Stephen Hawking left us at age 76, was one of the most recognized scientists since its inception. His name transcended many barriers, from his physical condition that did not prevent his constant study. His effort made him become an icon of the popular culture of the world, as he was recognized by locals and foreigners alike. The physicist had appearances and references in different series and movies, let’s see some of them.


In 1993, he was present in an episode of the series “Star Trek: The Next Generation” where he appeared performing his own hologram.

It appeared in the world-famous series of The Simpsons in 1999. We all remember when he told Homer Simpson “Your theory of the universe in the form of a donut is ‘intriguing'”. The physicist stressed that The Simpsons treated his image in a responsible way and that his appearances were fun. In addition to this appearance in cartoons, he had four other times with The Simpsons and Futurama.

In 2012, he appeared in the American comedy series, The Big Bang Theory, “You Had an Arithmetic Error on Page 2” was the message he gave to Sheldon when he wrote an essay on the Higgs Boson.


As a special mention, we can not forget the movie “The Theory of Everything” where his life was portrayed, the film was nominated for Best Film, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Soundtrack. It was Eddie Redmayne who played the renowned physicist and won the Oscar for his performance.
